1. Do you take artworks on consignment?
Niagara Galleries deals with important modern and contemporary Australian and international art. We are happy to discuss the sale of artworks on consignment. Our standard commision is a flat 20%, including GST. This is very favourable compared with the auction houses.
2. Do we have layby/credit card facilities?
The gallery is happy to negotiate payment options with individuals. We can provide a range of layby options.
The gallery also has credit card facilities and accepts all major cards.
3. Do you carry out valuations of artworks?
William Nuttall is an approved valuer for the Cultural Gifts Program and can also undertake valuations for insurance purposes. Please feel free to contact the gallery regarding these services.
4. I am an artist interested in showing with a commercial dealer, how do I approach the gallery?
There is a limit to the number of artists the gallery can exhibit, and Niagara does already have a very full stable of artists. Niagara will accept portfolio submissions for consideration in April and October each year. The portfolio must include slides or photographs of recent work, a current CV and a stamped and self addressed envelope. CD-Roms, websites or unsolicited email submissions will not be viewed.
5. Can we arrange a wedding registery through the gallery?
An artwork is a unique and lasting way of remembering that “special day”. We are very happy to provide a wedding registry service as a hassle-free way for guests to contribute towards a wedding gift. It's also a great idea for a significant birthday.
6. Can we see works by artists who are not currently having an exhibition?
The gallery has a private viewing room which is available by appointment. We usually have works available by most of the artists the gallery represents. A limited number of works by gallery artists are also on view on the website. Click to the relevent artists' page and follow the links the the “stock room” page.
7. Do you allow works to be viewed on approval (try before you buy)?
In certain circumstances we can arrange for work to be sent out on approval. It can be very helpful, particularly with large paintings, to see the work hanging in situ to determine whether it will suit a particular placement. If the work is not purchased the cost of the return freight must be paid by the collector.
9. Do you do consultancy work for private and corporate collections and can you advise on suitable works for the home?
William Nuttall has over 25 years experience in the art world and has facilitated important acquisitions for a range of private and corporate collections. He is happy to advise on strategies and approaches to building a quality collection for both enjoyment and investment.
We are also able to visit your home or office to make suggestions on works of art to enhance your environment and advise the best placement for key works.
Other services include bidding on works at auction.
9. Can you help with hanging artworks?
Niagara can provide advice and assistance with hanging artworks. We can also provide contact details for professional technicians who can install and hang your artworks.
Niagara Galleries also offers a special service in association with consultant Janne Faulkner, to provide advice to clients on displaying their collection at home. Janne will visit you at home to discuss your needs, before arranging for a qualified technician to come in and work with her to re-hang your collection. Janne Faulkner, of Nexus Design, has extensive experience in interior design and art consultancy, and has written and published numerous books on design. Please contact the gallery to arrange an appointment.
10. Is Bill in?
